Nadezda Tavodova Tezgor Photojournalist
My eyes are just luxury accessories of my mind. Photography is for me a rhythm, the pulse, a magical game of light with the ability to capture a given moment. It is the connection between me, the subject, and the situation. With respect and sensitivity to the problem, I just capture what I see and how I feel it.
I was born in former Czechoslovakia. I studied photography in the Czech Republic. I worked for a human rights organization, later as a freelance photographer. Social feelings and a sense of justice influenced my life and work.
In 2014 I moved to New York City to study. With years of experience as a commercial and documentary photographer, I was able to establish myself and started publishing for newspapers and working for agencies, organizations, and clients. I'm an NYPD Press credentialed photojournalist living in Manhattan. I constantly work as a freelancer for NGO projects in the US and overseas.
What motivated me, my work, and my ability to observe is my strong sense and desire for social justice. This is all a part of me. Life is not only me, but there is also a connection with everything. To judge is simple, but to understand and make changes, it is necessary to learn and be grateful for every new opportunity. One of the ways to be a good photojournalist is to be a good person.
Currently, I’m studying at the International Center of Photography in New York, One Year Documentary Practices and Visual Journalism, focusing on storytelling and conflict.
